BOMA San Francisco Members:

The San Francisco Arts Commission (SFAC) and the Department of Public Works (DPW) have joined forces in combating graffiti vandalism in the City by launching an innovative new pilot program called StreetSmARTS. The program connects established urban artists, or “writers”, with private property owners to create vibrant murals, a proven and effective strategy for making property less vulnerable to graffiti vandalism. StreetSmARTS also aims to restore San Francisco’s stature as a recognized, international destination for mural art. The SFAC and DPW will unveil the first StreetSmARTS mural in late March.

The SFAC has recently selected nineteen established urban artist to be StreetSmARTS muralists.  These artists will provide participating property owners with an array of vibrant, colorful mural options.  Selected private property owners may select an artist from the SFAC's list to create an original mural which aligns with the neighborhood's aesthetic.  On Tuesday. February 16, 2010, the first ten property owners expressing interest in this program will be contacted to begin the process of viewing the artists' work and to make a selection.

There are a few spaces left!  BOMA San Francisco members that are interested in participating in this unique program must contact the SFAC as soon a possible in order to participate this fiscal year. Contact Alyssa Stone at 415-252-3209 or e-mail artsedassistant@sfgov.org
