A Look Ahead: Transbay Demolition and Construction Activities



BOMA San Francisco Members:

Weekend Work (3/12/11 – 3/13/11): This Weekend, there will be no work performed on Second, First, Fremont or Howard Streets due to the St. Patrick’s Day parade.

Demolition work will continue on the old Bus Ramp off Clementina Street (behind the Fremont Street off ramp) on Saturday, March 12 from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The Crusher/Conveyors operation will be in effect in the West Terminal lot on Saturday, March 12 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Weekday Work (3/14/11 – 3/18/11): Weekday work will take place between Monday, March 14 and Friday, March 18. All contractors will work between the hours of 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM.

Installation of Geotech Instrumentation at Zone 4, between Beale and Fremont Streets, will continue as the beginning of the Construction Phase, which will be ongoing through March 25.

Center Terminal Demolition (Zone 3) activities, including fill and grading of the site, will continue throughout March between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

West Terminal Demolition (Zone 2 and Zone 1) activities will continue with the Crusher/Conveyors operation between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Demolition work will continue on the old Bus Ramp from Howard Street towards Folsom Street. Demolition is ongoing beside Clementina Street with debris processing to continue on these adjacent parcels through the month of March, between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Underground utilities work will continue and include:
Continued underground utilities work on Minna Street from First to Second Streets.
Continued underground utilities work on Natoma Street from First to Second Streets.
Continued underground utilities work on Natoma Street from Fremont to First Streets.
Continued underground utilities work on Howard Street from Main to First Streets.
Continued underground utilities work on Second Street from Mission to Howard Streets.
Continued underground utilities work on First Street from Mission to Howard Streets.
Continued underground utilities work on Fremont Street from Mission to Howard Streets.
Continued underground utilities work on Beale Street from Mission to Howard Streets.

Detours, Street and Sidewalk Closure:

Detours: Minna Street will be closed to through traffic at First Street. Local access will be granted from Shaw Alley. Detours and lane restrictions on Minna Street will continue through March. There will be a flag person directing access at Shaw Alley. All affected buildings will be granted full access to their parking garages and loading docks.

Natoma Street (500 Howard Block) will be closed to through traffic at First Street. As the week progresses access will shift from Second Street and will be granted from First Street. We will notify all affected properties before this change in access is made.

All local access will be granted. Detours and lane restrictions on Natoma Street will continue through March. There will be a flag person directing access at Second Street. All affected buildings will be granted full access to their parking garages and loading docks.

Natoma Street (400 Howard Block) will be closed to through traffic at Fremont Street. As the week progresses access will shift from First Street and will be granted from Fremont Street. We will notify all affected properties before this change in access is made.

Lane restrictions will remain on Howard Street between Main and First Streets between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Lane restrictions will remain on Second Street between Mission and Howard Streets between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Lane restrictions will remain on First Street between Mission and Howard Streets between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Lane restrictions will remain on Fremont Street between Mission and Howard Streets between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Lane restrictions will remain on Beale Street between Mission and Howard Streets between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Sidewalks: The sidewalk on the east side of Fremont Street will remain closed. Pedestrians must use the west side of Fremont Street until further notice. Pedestrians will be redirected onto a temporary sidewalk in the parking lane of Fremont Street starting Wednesday, March 9 through Friday, March 18, to allow demolition of overhead steel.

What to Expect Next Weekend (3/19/11-3/20/11):

Underground utility work will continue on Howard Street at the intersection of Howard and Main Streets (in front of the Temporary Terminal) on Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Underground utility work will continue on Natoma Street between Fremont and Second Streets on Saturday, March 20 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Detours and lane restrictions will be in effect.

Underground utility work will continue on Minna Street between First and Second Streets on Saturday, March 19 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

The Crusher/Conveyors operation will be in effect in the West Terminal lot on Saturday, March 19 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
