The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) will most likely increase water and sewage rates over a five year period to both residential and commercial customers to pay for the Water System Improvement Program (WSIP)—mostly for seismic improvement projects. The final vote is expected to take place on May 5, 2009. The impact to commercial interests would be a 13% increase in water rates; sewage rates would go up by 1%.
