A Look Ahead: Transbay Demolition Activities - Monday, October 4, 2010, and Friday, October 8, 2010





Weekday Work: Weekday work between Monday, October 4, 2010, and Friday, October 8, 2010, will focus on the removal and cleanup of the remaining column foundations at the north side of Howard between Beale and Main Streets, as well as the remaining foundations on the east side of Beale Street between Mission and Howard.  In addition, the contractor will continue to complete preparations for the demolition of the roof and upper deck of the Transbay Terminal building.

Hours of Work:  The contractor will be working between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM Monday-Friday.  Weekend work may be conducted 24-hours a day with a moratorium on jack hammering and other excessive noise producing activities between the hours of 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

Street and Sidewalk Closure: This weekend, the north sidewalk of Howard Street (at Beale) as well as the north traffic lane on Howard between Main and Beale Streets will be closed. Alternate pedestrian routes will be provided. Due to significant progress made last week, there will be no full street closures this weekend.

What to Expect Next Weekend (10/8 – 10/10):The contractor will continue removing the footings of bridge columns at the Northwest side of Howard Street between Main and Beale Streets from Friday, October 8, 2010 at midnight to Sunday, October 10, 2010 at 11 PM. The sidewalk on the north side of Howard Street at Beale will continue to be closed during this time.

The contractor will also continue the removal of the bridge column on the east and west sides of Beale between Mission and Howard and continue preparations for the removal of the roof of the Transbay Terminal building.

Weekend work may be conducted 24-hours a day with a moratorium on jack hammering and other excessive noise producing activities between the hours of 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

Community Meetings: Please join the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) for their upcoming community meetings on Wednesday, October 20, 2010. The first community meeting will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM. The second community meeting will be held from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Both meetings will feature the same content and will be held at the TJPA’s offices located at 201 Mission Street, Suite 2100.
