A Look Ahead: Transbay Demolition and Construction Activities



BOMA San Francisco Members:

Weekend Work (9/17/11 - 9/18/11):

The buttress drilling operation will continue in the eastern zone between Fremont and Beale Street Saturday, September 17. A concrete pour is currently scheduled to take place between the hours of 6:00 AM on Saturday and will conclude before 12 AM, midnight. A shaft concrete pour must be completed once it begins. This process take approximately 11 hours from start to finish.

Natoma Street (500-540 Howard Street): Pre-trenching work will continue on Saturday, September 17 from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Local access will be granted from Second Street.

Minna Street: The installation of the Concrete Deep Soil Mix (CDSM) shoring wall will continue along Minna Street on Saturday between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

First Street (at Natoma and Minna Streets): Pre-trenching activities will take place across First Street on Saturday, September 17. There will be lane restrictions across First Street as activities progress from the west to the east side of the street and will continue from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Local access to Minna will enter from Shaw Alley and Exit onto Second Street.

Weekday Work (9/19/11 - 9/23/11):

Night Shift - Buttress drilling work will continue in the eastern zone between Fremont and Beale Street between the hours of 6:00 AM and 1:00 AM. There will be minimal work on site between 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM.

Buttress drilling equipment may be delivered to the Beale Street lot between Mission and Howard Street on Monday, September 19 to Wednesday September 21 between 1:00 AM-5:00 AM.

CDSM spoils will be removed from the western zone and buttress spoils will be removed from the central zone during the night shift from 7:00 PM to 2:30 AM.

Day Shift - All contractors will work between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Activities will include:

Shoring & Excavation Prep:

Buttress wall installation will continue in the eastern zone between Fremont and Beale Street between the hours of 6:00 AM and 1:00 AM.

(CDSM) shoring wall installation will continue in the west transit center site at Minna Street between First and Second Streets - Day Shift.

Welding of I-beams for installation in the (CDSM) shoring wall will continue in the center zone between Fremont and First Streets -Day Shift.

Trenching:

First Street (near Natoma Street): Trenching for shoring wall work and pavement restoration - Day Shift. Traffic lanes will be reduced to accommodate this work.

Natoma Street (from First and Second Streets): Trenching for shoring wall work - Day Shift. Traffic lanes will be reduced to accommodate this work.

Natoma Street (between Fremont and First Streets): Sidewalk restoration will take place from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM - Day Shift. Normal traffic lanes will be in effect.

Underground utilities/ trenching work:

Natoma Street (near Second Street): Underground trenching and utilities work - Day Shift. Local access only.

Beale Street (from Mission to Howard Streets): Pavement and sidewalk restoration - Day Shift. Traffic lanes will be reduced to accommodate this work.

Fremont Street (from Mission to Howard Streets): Underground trenching, utilities work, and pavement restoration - Day Shift. Traffic lanes will be reduced to accommodate this work.

Detours, Street and Sidewalk Closures:

The following streets will be temporarily impacted due to project activities. So you can plan ahead please review the affected streets below:

Minna Street: Local access to Minna Street will enter from Shaw Alley and exit onto Second Street from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Natoma Street (Between First and Second Street): Natoma Street has been blocked for the life of the project and is now only accessible for local access to 500 Howard. Natoma Street has been changed to a dead end and is now two way off of First Street. There is no local access off of Second Street onto Natoma Street. Local pedestrian access to Natoma businesses near Second Street is still available from Second Street.

First Street: Lane restrictions will be in effect on First Street between Mission and Howard Streets from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. An SFPD 10B Officer will be on site to direct access. Pedestrians must use the temporary sidewalk in the parking lane on the west side of First Street until further notice.

Fremont Street: Lane restrictions will be in effect on Fremont Street between Mission and Howard Streets from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. An SFPD 10B Officer will be on site to direct access. The east sidewalk of Fremont Street between Mission and Howard Streets will remain closed. Pedestrians must use the west sidewalk of Fremont Street until further notice.

Beale Street: Lane restrictions will be in effect on Beale Street between Mission and Howard Streets from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. An SFPD 10B Officer will be on site to direct access. Pedestrians must use the temporary sidewalk in the parking lane on the east sidewalk of Beale Street until further notice.

PG&E is performing night work along Beale Street between Market and Mission Streets, which will continue and last into November. This work will result in lane restrictions along Beale Street and is not under the control or authority of the TJPA.

What to Expect Next Weekend (9/23/11 - 9/26/11):

The buttress wall installation operation may continue in the eastern zone between Fremont and Beale Street Saturday, September 24 with a concrete pour that is scheduled between the hours of 6:00 AM and 1:00 AM Sunday. If there is a problem, work on site would extend into the hours of between 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM. Buttress wall installation may continue in the eastern zone between Fremont and Beale Street Sunday, September 25.

Natoma Street: Pre-trenching work will continue along Natoma Street between First and Second Streets on Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25 from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Local access only.
